Sarah Cost
Founding Artistic Director
Born and raised in New Hampshire’s seacoast her dance career began with study under the tutelage of Mihailo Djuric, Christine Simes and Susan Duffy at the School of Ballet New England and Ballet Theatre Workshop, where she performed classical and contemporary works and was often a featured soloist. In 1996, at the age of 13, was chosen to work with the Liz Lerman Dance Exchange on the Shipyard Project, which brought visual and performing artists together to celebrate the historical and cultural importance of the Portsmouth Shipyard. During later teen years, Cost began her life-long relationship with dance outreach, through Ballet Theatre Workshop's Dance Outreach program. The program toured all over New England to bring the art of dance to school children and the elderly community. She received additional training at the South Carolina Summer Dance Conservatory studying with ballet greats such as Edward Villella, Marianna Tcherkassky and Anna Marie Holmes and jazz masters such as Nan Giordano.
After graduating with a BA in Theatre and Dance from the University of New Hampshire in 2005, Cost appeared professionally in theatrical roles such as Rusty in Footloose, Caroline in Titanic, Jill in Butterflies are Free and supporting roles/featured dancer in Cabaret, Once on this Island, and Fiddler on the Roof (Dance Captain). She has staged numerous musicals and concert works through out New England, notably as resident choreographer at Ballet New England and guest choreographer at Festival Ballet Providence.
Cost founded Neoteric Dance Collaborative in 2004 while still a student at the University of New Hampshire. Today she continues her work as a dance educator and choreographer with NDC and as the Education and Community Outreach Coordinator for Boston Ballet.
