Joined NDC in 2008

Allison Duke, who joined NDC in 2008, hails from Rochester, NY and started her serious dance training at the age of 10 with Southold Dance Theatre in Indiana. Upon relocating to New Hampshire, she continued her danced education under Mihailo Djuric, Susan Duffy and Christine Simes of Ballet Theatre Workshop in Portsmouth, NH. During her high school years she attended prestigious summer programs such as The Rock School, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet and Jeannette Neill's Boston Summer Dance Festival, working with notable dance educators - Edward Villella, Donald McKayle and Darla Hoover.

She graduated from the University of Utah in 2006 with a B.F.A. in Ballet, emphasis in pedagogy, and a B.A. in Mass Communications, emphasis in writing. In Salt Lake City, Ms. Duke studied with Attila Ficzere, Sharee Lane, Barbara Hamblin and Conrad Ludlow. Ms. Duke has studied Vaganova, Graham, Cunningham and Horton techniques, along with several disciplines of jazz and character dance.

Ms. Duke has performed with Portland Ballet, Ballet New England and Eidolon Ballet in Concert, at venues such as The Music Hall in Portsmouth, NH; the Alvin Ailey Citigroup Theatre, New York, NY; and Boston's Government Center. In addition to performing, she is an accomplished freelance dance writer, and has work published in issues of Dance Spirit, Dance Teacher, and Pointe magazines. She has had the pleasure to interview several notable dance icons including: Robert Weiss, Dennis Nahat, Elizabeth Gaynor Minden, Elizabeth Parkinson and Scott Wise.

Ms. Duke serves as company manager and media contact for NDC, in addition to her role as a company dancer.
